Selection Trials Postponed

Please note that the selection trials due to be held at Lake Cootharaba this October have been postponed.  At our committee meeting next MONDAY (12 October) AT 7.30PM we will discuss when these will be rescheduled to.  The decision has been made to move these as a one off due to the Nationals being postponed 6 months.

Please call into our meeting to have your input as to when these should be rescheduled to. Email will be forwarded before Sunday evening with log on details.

New Trophies Introduced at the Qld Titles

The two people that were recognised by having perpetual trophies named after them have a passion for sailing and getting kids on the water in Sabots enjoying sailing.  For numerous years they have put in many hours sharing their love and knowledge of sailing Sabots with children and their families.

It’s an honour to be able to acknowledge their devotion to the sport of sailing and particularly their support of the Sabot class by naming these new trophies after them.

Top placed competitor who is aged 12 years and under:

“Peter Osborne Perpetual Trophy

Aged 12 years and under Queensland Champion”

Peter Osbourne is based out of Townsville Sailing Club and is a fantastic ambassador for sailing in North Qld.

Top placed competitor using a Spark Sail:

“Scott Sinclair Perpetual Trophy

Spark Sail Queensland Champion”

Scott Sinclair is based out of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast and heads the sailing for the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club.  His children have sailed Sabots with son Lachlan a current SQSA sailor.  Scott is an admired and respected coach and his ability to relate and explain sailing to children of all skill levels is legendary.

Congratulations to Peter and Scott !

The Qld Titles were very successful for SQSA sailors taking out all podium finishes in the 1 up fleet, some fantastic improvements was evident for all our sailors and all round lots of fun for parents and kids.
